Frequently Asked Questions
Are we charged for ingestion or storage of messages / data?
You are charged for ingestion and processing of messages and data, but you are not charged for storage of messages or data. Charges apply to messages and graph data that you add to and process through the Zep service.
Why are there two Free plans on the in-app billing page?
All accounts start with an entirely Free plan with additional limits. To increase free credits, upgrade to the Free then Metered plan, which requires a credit card.
What is Graph Data and how do the MB limits work?
Zep supports ingesting JSON documents, unstructured text, and transcripts into a user or group's Knowledge Graph. This counts towards monthly Graph Data limit. Measured in megabytes (MB). 5MB is approximately 2,500 pages of English UTF-8 text.
How are Rate Limits Calculated?
Each plan tier has a base rate limit, with Free being the lowest. Both Free and Usage-based Billing customers may see rate limits lowered depending on service usage. Enterprise Plans have committed, guaranteed rate limits.
Is Zep SOC 2 Type II certified?
Yes, Zep is SOC 2 Type II certified. Review controls and live compliance status on our Trust Page.
Can Zep sign a HIPAA BAA?
Yes, HIPAA BAAs are available with Enterprise Plan.
We're an EU company. Will you sign a DPA?
Yes, able to sign a Data Processing Agreement with EU customers or those with EU presence.
